Welcome to Snapshots of God’s Grace
Through the lens of her camera, Stephanie Catmull, The Book Lady, captures moments of beauty, wonder, and everyday grace found in God’s creation. Each photograph is paired with a thoughtful reflection that invites readers to slow down, notice God’s presence, and discover spiritual truths woven into the world around them. From mountain vistas to quiet trails and simple moments in nature, these snapshots offer inspiration, encouragement, and a fresh perspective on how God reveals Himself through His handiwork. Each reflection is designed to help you pause, reflect, and see His grace in both the extraordinary and the ordinary.

Consider the Lilies…and the Columbines
“Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even
Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” (Luke 12:27, NKJV)
One of my favorite hobbies in Colorado is hiking, especially in the mountains above
7,000 feet. While the air is thin and the inclines are steep, gazing upon the majestic, breathtaking views of God’s creation inspires utter wonderment in my soul. I hunger for the days between April and July when I can wander through the vast fields of blooming wildflowers blanketing our alpine meadows.

Hands-down, finding a cluster of columbines thrills my heart because they remind me
who God is. When their petals are inverted, their velvety flowers remarkably resemble doves. I can’t help but think of the Holy Spirit softly landing upon our Savior during His baptism. I am reminded of the many women of the Bible who embodied unwavering trust in Him as they walked out their faith with resiliency and perseverance during their short, albeit powerful, lives. I ponder the growing peace and strength that my faith, a precious gift from God, has blessed me with during the trials of my life.
I also love the columbine’s magnificent colors as they display God’s unparalleled
splendor. Notice the vibrant blue, signifying the vast expanse of the sky and His heavens.
Observe the brilliant white, representing the uniqueness of every single snowflake that falls to the earth. Look at the yellow spurs, named after an eagle’s talons, whose nectar feeds the
smallest hummingbird, and which symbolizes the precious gold mines found in our state.
It’s no wonder that Jesus tells us in Luke 12:27 to “Consider the lilies, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” I hope God doesn’t mind if I include the columbine alongside the lilies.
If you ever make it to Colorado, I pray you hike the slope of one of our mountains to
discover God’s perfect and astonishing flower which is even more splendidly clothed than the richest, wisest king in all of history.
